Things to do during your visit

If you travel by car, there are a few things you should know. There is a lot of constructions in Gothenburg. Also, it can be hard to find parking, so we recommend you to travel by bus. The nearest bus stop (Slamby) is located just 2 min from the house. An alternative is to take the car to a nearby commuter parking, e.g. Delsjömotet, where there are many and frequently buses to town centre.

When you drive to the centre there are road tolls and in some places like Landvetter it's required to use a parking sticker.

If you travel locally by tram or bus, you have to purchase your ticket in advance via an app (To Go), found at västtrafik.

If you want to travel within Gothenburg by bicycle, there is a bike sharing, where you can rent a bike via your smartphone.

(2,2 km) Landvetter centre. Here are 2 grocery stores, (open daily from 07:00 until 23:00), pharmacy, bakery etc.

(6 km) You can obtain beer with low alcohol in any grocery store, but to get normal beer, wine or spirits, you have to visit a special store, Systembolaget. The nearest is found at Biblioteksgatan 14B, 435 30, MÖLNLYCKE.

(8,7 km) A very big shopping centre Allum, with over 80 different shops.

(15,6 km) Sammels lantgård. We run a farm shop, café, catering, furniture carpentry and nursery garden with associated visitor garden of 2000 sqm. You will find us in Bertshult which is located outside Landvetter.

(0 km) A short walk for about 20 minutes starting at the house. At the end of the walk, you will pass our neighbours yard, that's ok.

(1,7 km) In walking distance (20 min), you find a nature preserve, Gallhålan. A good entry point if you are walking, is Grönhultsvägen 10, 438 35 Landvetter.

(2.2 km) Sjöholmen, Shallow bathing area with jetty and beach. There are toilets, swings and a large lawn. Perfect for children.

(12,2 km) Delsjön Here you can take a relaxing walk in the nature reserve, go on a canoe trip, take a delightful swim

(12,2 km) Jonsereds trädgårdar The park's gardens have a clear 19th-century theme and the traditional manor house has a café and a full programme all year round.

(19,1 km) In Gothenburg there is a famous botanical garden

(19,3 km) Slottsskogen Welcome to Gothenburg’s main park. Take a stroll along the winding paths lined with leafy greenery and you’ll see why Slottsskogen is the locals’ favourite place to unwind. You’ll also be able to see Mooses (elks), Gotland ponies, Gute sheep and other Nordic animals in the park zoo. There is a big playground for children, Plikta, suitable for both toddlers and older children.

(48,6 km) Naturum Fjärås bräcka Visitors can learn more about the flora, fauna, geology and cultural history that have shaped the area around them.

(83,9 km) Naturum Getterön is the gateway to the Halland nature reserves. It is located at one of Northern Europe's best bird habitats. The wetlands are a real El Dorado for both birds and birdwatchers. There is a visitor centre with a café, exhibition and many exciting activities.

(128 km) Nordens ark The purpose is to preserve endangered animals and biological diversity.

(14 km) A big amusement park, Liseberg

(17 km) Paddan Sightseeing along the canals of Gothenburg.

(8,2 km) Råda säteri is a unique 18th century environment with well-preserved manor buildings and a beautiful garden. The café serves lunch, sandwiches and homemade pastries.

(10,4 km) Gunnebo, one of Scandinavia's best restored 18th century estates. At Gunnebo you can go on a castle tour, stroll around the lovely gardens, take part in courses and events, and eat in our organic restaurant.

(19,5 km) Nya Älvsborg fortress, situated at the entrance of the port of Gothenburg, offers a captivating journey into Gothenburg’s 400-year history. You reach the fortress by a boat trip from Lilla Bommen.

(32,8 km) Bohus fästning. One of Västra Götaland’s seven wonders and a popular destination, Bohus Fortress not only offers a unique history with magnificent architecture, here, you can also play, learn, eat and socialise in a genuine and culturally rich environment. Along the Göta River, Danish, Swedish and Norwegian history is interwoven. The role of the river grew in importance during the Iron Age and thus control over it had a strategic significance. In the 1250s, the Norwegian king built a fortification on Ragnhildsholmen to protect the town of Kongahälla. In 1308, a wooden castle was built on Bagaholmen, which was named Bagahus, and later Bohus.

(51,6 km) Tjolöholm Castle is Sweden’s leading Arts and Crafts property. Built between 1898 and 1904. Throughout the year you will always find great food in our restaurants, picnic baskets, hotel rooms or cafe. We pride ourselves on our locally sourced and homegrown ingredients.

(72,6 km) Torpa stenhus. The first part of castle was built around 1470. During summer season the castle is open for guided tours and exciting exhibitions. Beautiful wooden carvings, renaissance paintings, old portraits and beautiful tapestries - in these lovely surroundings, it’s easy to feel the pulse beats of history.

(84,2 km) Varberg fästning. Over the centuries, the fortress has become one of the most important symbols of Varberg and the history of Halland. With its high stone walls, it stands as a memorial to a time of war and power when the Nordic countries were in constant conflict with each other.

We have a lovely archipelago, (29,9 km) a southern where cars are not allowed, and (37 km) a northern where you can explore with the car. If you choose the southern, you can park your car at Långedrag, and take the tram the last distance. If so, the ticket for the tram is the same one that takes you to the islands you want to visit.

(60,6 km) Marstrand. In the far west, where the archipelago ends and the open sea begins, you find the island of Marstrand with Carlsten Fortress at the top. The sailing town and seaside resort Marstrand is a favourite with visitors. It is home to a harbour filled with all kinds of boats, cosy homes along car-free streets, top restaurants and cafées, sun and salty swims, music and spectacle.

Bohuslän is a coastline, between Gothenburg and Norway. Bohuslän is a place you will want to visit again and again. The gorgeous coastal region with its rocky isles offers some of the most delicious fresh shellfish in the world and gives you just two reasons to come here. Come any time of year to discover and experience more of Bohuslän.

(14,3 km) Världskulturmuseet The Museums of World Culture manage more than 500,000 objects from all over the world, as well as one million images, 200 000 books and journals, and 500 running meters of archival material. These objects form the basis for many of our exhibitions and are also used to give each of our museums a certain profile.

(14,7 km) There is a very nice science museum, Universeum

(15 km) Konstmuseet is a famous art museum, located at the heart of Gothenburg.The best collection of Nordic painters in the whole of Sweden.

(15,7 km) Alfie Atkins’ Cultural centre (Alfons Åberg) is the perfect place for children to play, get up to mischief, climb and discover a building full of fascinating things. There are daily activities like theatre, maths with seeds, music and kid’s workouts.

(54,7 km) Anten gräfsnäs järnväg. AGJ – Why not having a ride with a living museum railway that is 12 km long and 891 mm wide run by a non-profit association.

(99,6 km) Adventure centre among the elks and hills, The Royal Hunt Museum - Here you get to know more about the elk (Moose), hillside habitats, captivating cultural history and traditional royal hunts.

(29,1 km) Nääs fabriker. Go on a summer outing to Nääs Fabriker! We have activities for all ages, both adults and children. During the summer, we have extra fun activities, events, and offers for the whole family on the premises. Closeby there is a castle, Nääs Slott.

(43,2 km) Ale vikingagård - A rebuild Vikinghouse.

(59 km) Äskhult. In Äskhult, you’ll step right into a genuine hamlet from the 1800s, with roots in the 1600s and 1700s. Once you leave the parking area, there isn’t much to remind you of our time. An immensely beautiful cattle path leads to the hamlet. The four farms from the 1700s and 1800s – Göttas, Jönsas, Bengts, and Derras – have been unpainted silver-gray and shimmer beautifully around the small hamlet square. The hamlet underwent a redistribution of land holdings in 1825 and a legal partitioning in 1864, but the farms were not split up and remain in their original locations – something unique in Sweden.

(146 km) Rock-carvings from the Bronze Age. Vitlycke museum is a knowledge and experience centre in Tanum World Heritage site - an area of about 600 rock art sites. Here you can experience world class rock art and explore the Bronze Age world. Join a guide or walk by yourself among the carvings and reconstructed Bronze Age buildings. At the museum you will find a cafe, shop and an exhibition that is a dramatic story for the whole family.
